Charitable support of the Daybreak mission is a growing phenomenon at Daybreak. In addition to fees charged for services, Daybreak depends on current donations and future gift arrangements to supplement its annual revenue stream and to create a healthy financial climate in which the agency can operate. As Daybreak is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, organized and incorporated in the State of Washington, donations to the agency can be tax-deductible to their donors. Giving opportunities at Daybreak include the following:

Special Events: an annual special event is customarily planned for each Daybreak city, Spokane and Vancouver. In 2005, a Spring Concert was held in Vancouver that featured several jazz artists from the region and accommodated more than 200 supporters on a Sunday afternoon. The successful event produced a “net” of $12,000 for the Vancouver Treatment Program. A Spokane event is currently being determined.

The Daybreak Annual Fund: an active program of annual gifts that are used for scholarship assistance to Daybreak clients, for small capital items and repairs to the Daybreak facilities, and for support of the annual operating budget. Donors are encouraged to give at one of three levels: founders ($1,000 & above), faithful ($500 and above) and friends ($250 and above). Annual Fund donations should be sent to: Daybreak Development, 101 E. 8th Street, #120, Vancouver, WA 98660.

Gift Annuity Program: Daybreak is licensed by the State Insurance Commissioner to offer gift annuities to its donor population. The program is highly regulated and reviewed annually by the Commissioner as a protection to annuitants who receive a lifetime of guaranteed fixed payments from the contract they sign with Daybreak. The rates (as shown below) are especially attractive for seniors and can be written for one or two lives. Daybreak receives its portion (the remainder) when the donor passes on. A confidential illustration will be sent to those providing their personal data.

Endowment Gifts: Donors can help Daybreak build its endowment fund by leaving a bequest in their Will or Living Trust, by naming Daybreak as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or by including Daybreak as a beneficiary in a charitable trust. These strategies and many more are part of Daybreak's Planned Giving Program that works with donors to create legacy gifts honoring their family's name in the community while supporting the noble and necessary mission of Daybreak. The agency utilizes Crescendo Planned Giving Software to produce illustrations and explanations for potential donors. Interested parties should call the Development Office (360-635-4120) to visit about these topics.
